PV4 Yagi antenna by W2PV


PV4, W2PV 4 element Yagi antenna as described in ARRL antenna handbook 15th edition. For some reason ARRL removed the article from their publications so this great design is not available in print to waste HAM community.  

My goal in this article is to point out great design by W2PV as well as possible upgrades and modifications based on his 4 el Yagi design. Design was criticized in ARRL issue that antenna is narrowbanded, both in F/B and input impedance. Download ezNEC file PV4.ez

 PV4 has intentionally shortened driven element to employ the "hairpin" matching in order to bring Impedance in 50 Ohms region. This drawback can be solved by adding fifth element as first director which is shown in my article MPV5

     Antenna has 9.85dBi gain (in my model) in center of 20 m band.
